 矿产资源丰富
目前已探明的有煤、铁、石膏、硫铁矿等32种矿物，尤以煤炭、石膏、硫铁矿储量丰富。全县含煤面积860平方公里，地质储量91亿吨，
多位肥煤、焦煤、瘦煤和气煤，被誉为“煤海瑰宝”；石膏储量17.2亿吨，是华北地区第二大石膏矿床；硫铁矿储量2亿吨，是全国煤系硫
铁矿的主要基地之一；铁矿储量1.65亿吨，铝矿储量3.3亿吨。  交通区位优越
距离省城太原150公里，距首都北京仅725公里。三晋南北大动脉——南同蒲铁路复线纵贯全境，
厂矿铁路专运线26余条，年货物吞吐量达3500余万吨。大运高速公路、108国道纵贯县城，和城乡
公路网、村村通水泥（油）路互联贯通，形成四通八达、路路相连的公路交通网络。
基础设施完善 京—太—西通讯光缆干线和220KV、110KV两条输变电干线穿境而过，建有110KV变电站4座、35KV变电站6座。城区基础设施齐全，水、
电、煤气、集中供热、有线电视、通讯设施、信息网络、金融机构、星级宾馆、商业网点一应俱全，完全适应大开放的需要。
农业资源广阔 灵石县属于山岭重丘区，境内气候温和，四季分明，现有耕地面积35万亩，农作物主要为小麦、玉米、谷子、豆类及各种小杂粮，粮食总产量在5000万公斤左右。以獭兔繁育、饲养、加工为一体的泉州兔业公司为全国最大的獭兔养殖育种基地。
 工业基础雄厚 经过多年的发展，灵石县初步形成了以煤焦、化工、冶金、建材、电力为主的五大骨干产业，列入山西省重点发展的八大焦化基地和五大甲醇联产中心，工业经济占全县国民经济比重的80%。到2010年，全县将形成2100万吨原煤、1000万吨精煤、900万吨焦炭、50万吨甲醇、30万吨焦油加工、25万吨碳块、120万吨水泥、30万吨石膏建材、50万KV电力装机容量的生产规模。

Lingshi County is located in the middle part of Shanxi province, at the southernmost end of Jinzhong city, and it is normally called as the main road of Qin and Jin and the broad road of Chuan and Shaan. The total land area of the whole county is 1206 KM2, and it governs 6 townships, 6 towns and 291 administrative villages and has total population of 250,000 people. Lingshi County is one of 25 experimental counties to expending power. Its total production value was 5.47billion RMB yuan in 2006 years, the total financial income was 1.212 billion RMB yuan, and is ranked NO.6 in Shanxi province. It was ranked 336 in the assessment of economic competition between counties nationwide in 2006 years, and it was listed No.61 in the central region one hundred strongest counties (cities). It has entered in the one hundred strongest small and medium sized counties with the utmost investment potential.
Rich mineral resource: It was verified that there are 32 sorts of minerals, such as coal, iron, gypsum and pyrites etc, in which coal, gypsum and pyrite reserves are abundant especially. The total area containing coal is 860 KM2, with geological reserve of 9.1 billion tons, and most are fat coal, coking coal, lean coal and gas coal and called as the treasure of coal-sea, the gypsum reserve is 1.72 billion tons and is the second gypsum ore bed in the north China district. The pyrites reserve is 200 million tons and one of coal series pyrites main production base in China . Iron ore reserve is more than 165 million tons and the aluminum ore reserve is more than 33 million tons. Superior traffic location: It is 150 km to Taiyuan city-the capital of Shanxi province and 725 km to Beijing . Nantongpu railway, the main road form south to north in Shanxi province, passed through the whole county, furthermore here are more the 26 special railways used for plants and mines, and the annual goods throughput is more the 35,000,000 tons. Dayun expressway and No.108 national road pass through the whole county. It is connected with the road network between cities and towns and the cement roads (or bituminous road) reaching to the every village, and forms a road traffic network extending to all directions.
Complete infrastructure: Jing-Tai-Xi main communication fiber cable and 220KV and 110KV transmission cables pass through the county. There are 4 transformer substations in 110KV and 6 transformer substations in 35KV. The infrastructure in the city zone are complete, such as water supply, electrical power supply, gas and concentrated heat supply, community antenna television, telecommunication facilities, information network, financial organ, star grade hotel and commercial network point etc, and can suit to the requirement of the big opening. Rich agriculture resource: Lingshi County belongs to mountain and bill area, so it has mild climate and clear four seasons. Now it has 350,000 mu of cultivated land and its main crops are wheat, corn, grain crops, bean and all coarse cereals, and the total crop output is about 501 billion kg per year. Quanzhou Rabbit Breeding Co., Ltd. combining with otter rabbit cultivation, breeding and process, is the largest otter rabbit cultivation and breeding base. Abundant industrial base: Through years of development, Lingshi county is formed five skeleton industries that are coal and coking, chemical industry, metallurgical industry, building materials and electrical power industry, building materials and electrical power industry. 8 coking bases and 5 methanol combining production centers are listed as main production items in Shanxi province. The industry economy accounts for 80% of the total national economy of the whole county. In 2010 years, the production scale of the whole county will be 21,000,000 tons of raw coal, 10,000,000 tons of coke, 500,000 tones of methanol, 300,000 tons of tar processing, 250,000 tons of carbon block, 1,200,000 tons of cement, 300,000tons of gypsum building material, and 500,000 KW electrical power generation capacity. Rich cultural background: There are several famous historic sites in Lingshi county, such as Wang's Grand Courtyard – the Hua Xia fist civilian house, the Gypsum Mountain scenery spot a forest park at national grade, Zishousi temple with long history and Hanxin tomb etc famous scenery spots.
